Below will follow a few questions you might have with regards to our services. If there are any more questions you might have and they are not covered below, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

 

  1. What is an engagement shoot?
    • An engagement shoot is a photo shoot we arrange approximately three weeks prior to your wedding date. We go to a nice location, and take a few couple photos. This enables you to be a little bit more comfortable in front of the camera, and you get lovely informal couple photos! During the engagement shoot session we give you a few hints and tips with regards to posing and so forth to get the best results on your wedding day.
  2. Do you travel for locations weddings?
    • Yes, we love to travel and no distance is too far!
  3. Who will be the photographer at our wedding?
    • Andri Harmse will photograph your wedding and Lucy Smith will be her assistant.
  4. Are you a full time photographer or part time photographer?
    • Andri is a full time photographer for Photo Emotion.
  5. Do you shoot digital or film?
    • Photographs will be captured in digital format.
  6. What equipment will be used and do you have a backup unit?
    • Canon is our brand (please have a look at our “Our Equipment” section), and we have two backup units available.
  7. Please describe your style of photography.
    • Andri likes to mix a few styles, as she believes that you need a good blend of styles naming – photojournalistic for those fun moments, formal moments for the family photos, a good blend for a well balanced album. Andri believes in having fun on your photo shoot as this relaxes you and encourages more spontaneous photographs – so remember you fun hats!
  8. How long before our wedding should we book our photographer?
    • Our clients book us anything from 3 months before their wedding date or even up until 12 months before their wedding date.
  9. What do we get?
    • All the photo packages includes the covering of the following items (subject to the signed contract)
      • One professional wedding photographer and one assistant.
      • Venue Details
      • Groom preparations  and details (provided that the groom is preparing at same venue as the bride)
      • Bride reparations and details
      • Wedding Ceremony
      • Formal couple photographs
      • Limited family photographs
      • Reception
  10. How long before we see our wedding photographs?
    • Between 4 to 6 weeks after your wedding, depending on if all monies outstanding were paid in full.
  11. How many photographs does our package include?
    • We don’t count when we take your photos :-) all the photographs that we take on your wedding will be given to you. There is no limit :-)
  12. Is our wedding the only wedding you will be doing on the day?
    • Yep – one a day! :-)
  13. Will you take table photos at our reception?
    • Yes we will, but we do not take table photos at the actual table, depending if your venue has the space we require available, we will photograph table photos.
  14. Can we look at a complete wedding album the photographer has done?
    • Definitely!
  15. What are the advantages of doing your disk only packages?
    • The disc only package is ideal if you are on a budget, and still want professional photographs. You can always return and design your album later.
  16. Do you require a 50% retainer fee?
    • In order for us to book your wedding in our diary, yes we require the full non refundable 50% retainer. This will enable us to turn down other couples enquiring for the same date as your wedding.
  17. Will you book our wedding in your diary without the retainer fee being paid?
    • Unfortunately not, no retainer no booking.
  18. If we cancel our wedding or move our wedding date, is our retainer fee transferable or refundable?
    • If you move your wedding date, subject to our availability we will re-apply your retainer, if we are already booked on the “new” wedding date you have decided upon, you forfeit your retainer. In the event of a cancellation, the retainer is non – refundable, as we turn down other prospective clients for your wedding date that you have booked us for.
  19. When do we pay the outstanding 50%
    • One week prior to your wedding date the account needs to be settled in full. If the account is not settled, we will not cover the wedding. It sounds really harsh, but in the industry it has happened too many times that a wedding gets covered and the clients do not pay the photographer the agreed fees.
  20. Do you charge additional fees if the reception and chapel are on more than one location?
    • We include 150km per package, in these kilometers we need to reach all your venues as well as get back to the office. If your roundtrip requires more kilometers, we will add it to your final bill.
  21. We definitely want to book you for our wedding – what now?
    • Have a look at our calendar to see whether we are available on your wedding date
    • Complete the Contact Us form
    • Wait for our reply to see our pricing
    • We are available for appointments Mondays to Fridays between 08:00 and 17:00 and after hours on Tuesdays and Wednesdays between 18:00 and 21:00. We will show you our albums as well as discuss your needs during this appointment – we can not stress enough that you meet your photographer to see whether you like the actual person and that you will be comfortable with them. This is extremely important.
    • After the meeting, you decide yes or now, when you have decided yes, we sign a contract and pay the 50% non refundable retainer fee
    • Your wedding date is now booked in our calendar.
  22. After we have booked you for our wedding – do we meet again to discuss the final arrangements?
    • Yes, we meet approximately 2 weeks before your wedding date to discuss the final plans for your wedding day, we will do a run through of how we are going to work and if you have any questions we can address them then. At this meeting your engagement shoot images will also be given to you.
  23. How do you need us to allocate time for photos? What do you require from us?
    • For the best results we will need the following:
  24. Venue Decor: 60 min
    We prefer to photograph the venue before anything else. We found if the guests arrive before us, the décor just doesn’t look the same J
    Bride before the ceremony: 1 hour

    Groom before the ceremony: 1 hour
    Ceremony: 30 min – 1 hour
    Family & Group shots: 20 min – 30 min
    Couple photos: 1 hour +
    Reception: depending on your package.

  25. Do you use lighting equipment?
    • On occasion we use off camera flash.
  26. When is the best time to take couple photos?
    • An hour before sunset and an hour after sunrise.
  27. Should we organise a seat and meal for you and your assistant?
    • Yes please :-)
  28. We have a close friend, family member that loves taking photographs; can they photograph us alongside us?
    • Family and friends can take as many pictures as they want, they will however not be permitted to work alongside us whilst we do the formal couple shoot.
